Frequently Asked Questions
What's the best way to book my charter?
The best way to book your next charter with The Ohana is to give us a call or shoot us an email. This allows us to personally understand what you want to accomplish on your trip. Doing so also helps us optimize your charter experience for the best trip possible.
What's provided on my charter?
We provide a light continental breakfast, snacks, water, juice and an unforgettable experience on all charters. Please feel free to bring any food or beverages you might want to enjoy on the boat! Remember to bring non-aerosol sunscreen as well.
What if I get seasick easily?
The waters are famously mild but there is always a chance for seasickness. If you experience these symptoms, we recommended that you prepare for this before boarding. OTC medications can be a good option, just make sure you take these at least 30 min before boarding.
Can I only book a fishing charter?
Nope! The Ohana offers much more than just fishing charters. Visit our Charter Options page to view the many charter choices we have to offer. These options make experiencing Kona even more memorable. Contact us today for availability!
What happens to the fish I catch?
We know how great it is to eat a freshly caught fish, especially if you are the one that caught it! That is why, with very few exceptions, we are happy to clean and fillet anything you catch for you to take it with you. We do not target any species of shark and if one is caught it is immediately released. We also highly encourage the tag and release of marlin. Other than that, the fish is yours!
Will I catch any fish?
What's an appropriate amount to tip the Ohana crew?
The crew works hard to ensure you have a great experience on your trip including filleting your fish after the trip. A portion of their salary comes from your tips. If you feel the crew deserves a tip please leave one with either the captain or one of the crew members.
